Design is a process of working, creating, and planning things that exist and are not, like discovering new ideas. The design has many forms. It is also a plan that is used in building a system, object, and so on. It can also be an implementation of a process or activity. The design also comes in different types which have other uses and purposes such as in the field of production, engineering, and even in the art such as follows:

• Design in Art

The design in art is also known and used as applied art, which is all about applying decoration and design. It is commonly seen and made in objects to make it attractive. Producing a lifeless object to bring life back through decorating it to be beautiful and to be used. The applied arts can be usually seen through the following:

• Industrial Design

It is a process in design which are applicable in products like manufacturing techniques for mass production.

• Automotive Design

These are specialized in industrial design with a combination of technical knowledge in mechanics. Also, in production and materials in improving styles, appearance. People in this field of work focus full-time on automobile manufacturing.

• Ceramic Art

Another thing that you can see the design is through ceramic art. These are usually made in ceramic material like clay. Pots, tableware, figurines, and tiles are some of the other things that can be made through ceramic art.

• Fashion design

Fashion design is an art that applies aesthetics, design, and beauty to clothing, accessories, and so on.

• Graphic Design

Graphic design is a process that is more on visual communication using photography, typography, iconography, and illustration. It is also an art and practices planning to project ideas and use it to visual and textual content. Or simple terms, they show the message or design through visual.

• Calligraphy

Calligraphy is also the same as graphic design, but it shows its design or art through writing. Relatively, through making art in the letters.

• Interior Design

It is also an art that helps enhance the building’s interior to create an aesthetic look and be gorgeous for people to use.

• Cartographic Design

The cartographic design is an art and process that creates a map to represent geographic information. This type of system includes the general principles and the techniques like in the other forms of design.

• Architecture

Architecture design focuses on the elements and components of the structure. In general terms, architecture is for architectural design. It also includes planning, designing, and devising buildings to be more durable, aesthetic, and functional.

• Software design

This design focuses on the structures, objects, components, and other methods to solve a problem in software.

• Design in Engineering

In the field of engineering, design is part of a component for a process. Commonly in building machines, structures, infrastructures such as bridges, tunnels, vehicles, and roads. It also comes with problem-solving in defining specific distinctions. Design in engineering is calculated together with science. Like for example, in designing a building, the engineer should calculate the number of particular materials, budget, and more for the design that was needed to be built.

The people behind design engineering are called the design engineers, which they develop new product, systems, and modify the existing products to improve its performance and efficiency.

• Design in production

The design in production is used for planning and execution, which the plan should antedate and resolve the possible problem that might occur during the execution process. Like in engineering, the design in production also includes problem-solving, and it also requires creativity.  But the production also consists of a routine or a pre-planned process. The design also can be a plan but does not include a presentation or an engineering process, even though designers expected a specific function or knowledge about it.

In different creative professional careers, design and production are problem-solving, execution, and reverse. But when the arrangement’s cost increases, they also need to separate the system into the output. For example, the skyscraper as a high-budget project needs to separate the design, which is the architecture, into the production, which is the construction. However, in a low-budget project like a flyer, it can be revised and rearranged when there is a problem with it. Producing it in small or in bunch amount at a low cost is possible.  As a more straightforward explanation, when in a high budget project, the production and design must be separated as it includes many critical problems solving. While in a low budget project like an invitation, it can easily redo, and its materials are easy to get.

Problem-solving and creativity are also included for design and production; however, it usually does not. The system here can be repetitive and not that perfect. The invention can be tasked with other products to do it that has more knowledge and expert on it.

Other than the category stated above, the design is also seen or heard through sound. It is also called sound design, which focuses on sound environments and productions—relatively, the arrangement of the music is crucial and more. There is also a lighting design that focuses on the light background for the interiors, theatre, film, and other night architecture.

Overall, you can see and touch design whenever you are and what you are doing everything has a touch of design. Like your sofa’s creative style, the graphics you see in your phones and other gadgets, and the building you are staying at. In design, there are lots of works that you can get from physical to software designs.

The design may be broad in many ways, but all of it comes in planning, creating, and creating processes for it to be done. In design, there are also simple, and there are some that require professionalism in making it. Nevertheless, everyone can design and learn, as long as you have the determination to achieve it.
